Two days before the removal people (GB Liners) were due to pack up all our worldly possessions and move us to Gurat, I got a phone call from GB Liners "Could a TV company contact us about the move...."
My initial reaction was no thanks, not interested, but after a bit of thought and discussing it with Nicki we thought, well let's at least hear what they have to say.
It turned out that the TV programme was ITV's Moving Day, the format of the show is a half-hour slot featuring one couple's move from start to finish, with the presenters being there to help with all those moving hassles..... Sounds perfect, especially with "Big Strong Boy" Gavin Lowe to help out with those "little DIY jobs" (little did they know what we had in store for them....)
A few emails and a meeting with Adeline Ramage (Producer/Director) later it was Moving Day!
Everyone thought we were nuts or getting paid a fortune (neither actually). Rather than it being lights, camera, action whilst going through one of the most stressful events in our life it all worked out very very smoothly. The whole Moving Day crew throughout the 7 days were utterly professional and an absolute tower of strength for us. We made some great friends and it was quite a joy to share the whole rollercoaster experience with them (and in turn, anyone who watches the programme).
Would we do it again.. Yes, absolutely. Visit www.itv.com/movingday
