There is a myriad of activities around and about the Chateau and surrounding area.
Please see the separate pages for specific age groups: Adults, Babies & Toddlers and Children to see what we have to offer at the Chateau.
Perhaps the most popular activity at the
chateau
is relaxing by the pool*. The 12 by 6 metre enclosed heated swimming
pool enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. There is a
separate 4 by 3 metre paddling pool for children. The main pool has a
safety ledge around the deep end for those less confident in the water;
both pools have a saltwater sanitisation system - Softer water and no
stinging eyes!
| Markets: | I think everyone visits one of the local markets during their stay with us. It's just so quintessentially French to visit a bustling local market, with the wonderful array of fresh local produce. Villebois - Saturday, Brantome - Friday, Riberac - Friday. |
| Tennis: | There are free tennis courts five minutes drive from us. |
| Football: | We have a 5-a-side pitch at the Chateau, there is also a full sized pitch on the outskirts of the village at the Stade de Gurat. |
| River beaches: | Aubeterre has a lovely river beach with grassed play area, cafe and restaurant. St Aulaye the same, but with water slides too! |
| Kayaks and canoes: | Available for hire nearby at Brantome, Riberac, Aubeterre and Montbron |
| Water park: | 20 mins away in Augouleme, Nautilis water park with 50m indoor pools, diving pools, outdoor and indoor slides, wave machines. Large lake for fishing & watersports. |
| Go-Karting: | Angouleme is home to one of the best karting tracks around here – owned by a former US Indycar racing driver who speaks perfect English, he has created this track with all men and boys in mind!!! |
| Fishing: | Very popular pastime around here, just at the bottom of the village are the lakes of Tourbieres. day permits for 3 euros. The lakes are stocked with Carp, Black Bass, Pike and Perch. Again, in the village, the river Lizzone is good for coarse fishing and Trout. One of Jakes young friend's made the local paper recently when he caught a 1.2m long Pike in the Lizzone. |
Please see the links on the left menu for further activities.
